Where does lead in water come from?

The most common source of lead in household water is from lead water service lines, galvanized steel pipes and copper pipes connected with solder made of lead.

Homes built before 1951 are more likely to have lead service lines while homes built before 1987 often contain lead solder, and plumbing fixtures installed before 2014 do not tend to meet today's standards of lead-free fixtures.

Drinking water that contains elevated levels of lead can have serious health effects, particularly in infants, children and pregnant women.

It's important to test your water to ensure that lead and other important health parameters are within safe limits. Learn more here - Water Quality Testing Service.
